On March 5th there was a first biggest event in history of the chess on the Internet ! Blitz tournament with 310 FIDE-rated players among which there were 64 grandmasters ! Time control was 5 5, which means 5 minute per game and increment of 5 seconds occurred after each move. Full list of players and thei FIDE ratings can be found at http://www.chessclub.com/oz.html 

    The tournament has been won by polish champion Aleksander Wojtkiewicz (ICC handle "happensreels"), known by his nickname as "Wojt". Alex won the tournament in unbelievable style wining 8 games and loosing 1 to grandmaster Nigel Short from England. After 9 round Swiss Wojt played playoff with grandmaster Kempinski (another polish GM !)  and crushed him 3-1. Wojt won $500 and a free trip to Reykjavik in Iceland, where he will play in super strong tournament with Kasparov, Anand Jan Timman, Viktor Kortchnoi, GM Ivan Sokolov, and 6 Icelandic GMs on April 1st - 2nd 2000. the other prizes were as follows: 2nd Place: $700 3rd Place: $500 4th Place: $300 5th Place: $200 6th Place: $100 7th Place: $100 8th Place: $100

    Grandmaster Kempinski won $700 and yours truly won $0. I have to say I played very bad and scored only 4.5 points, which is actually not so bad, many grandmaster had the same or worse result.
